This Summer’s Limited Flight Schedule from Aer Lingus

April 8, 2009

Aer Lingus‘ Chicago to Dublin flight schedule for this summer.

corey says…Here’s something I haven’t seen in a while. This summer, even during high season, Aer Lingus is only running three flights a week from Chicago to Dublin…New York is down to five a week. For years, these have been daily routes.

The snapshot above reveals the airline’s limited schedule with the ORD to DUB route on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Meanwhile, the New York route is not flying on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Boston route is still running daily.

I think it’s a sure indicator that tourism will be down this season. The good news for those who are traveling…the crowds will be very low this season and accommodations are offering all kinds of specials (a few are listed here).

As it stands, flights are running between $600 and $800 during high season…a big drop from last year’s fares that were well over $1,000.

I’ve also heard from Irish friends that in response to Ireland’s new recession-mindset, many restaurants have adjusted their menus to include some lower priced items. So there are money-saving opportunities on many fronts this season.
