Shabu Shabu

Canyon Walk, originally uploaded by IrishFireside.

corey says…Took the drive from San Diego to Pasedena so we could visit our friends Wakako and Frido…our favorite Germanese couple. They took us for a walk in the canyon that makes up their backyard.

The walk helped make room for Frido’s appetizer which he nicely adapted for the Irish-American Roadtrip. A sushi-inspired treat that celebrated the colors of the Irish flag…fresh salmon for the orange, avocado for the green and onion for the white. Must admit, I’m not a fish eater, but I had no objection to this dish. In fact, I’d dive in to enjoy it again.

Then Wakako introduced us to shabu shabu, a traditional Japanese hot pot meal. Wow! I could NOT have eaten another bite.
