Abramo’s Gift – Giveaway Day 5

December 5, 2008

Today’s prize is Abramo’s Gift by Donald Greco.

Donald Greco’s Irish-Italian heritage plays a big role in his book “Abramo’s Gift.” The story provides a realistic depiction of Italian and Irish immigrants in 1920 Youngstown, Ohio. The family saga follows an Italian immigrant who helps bring about change in a time of social unrest as Italian and Irish immigrants struggle to live with one another.

Greco, who draws from his historical roots to create colorful characters and realistic backdrops, has lived in Ohio all of his life and served as a mathematics professor for more than 35 years at the University of Toledo. The son of an Irish-American mother and an Italian-American father, Greco’s love for Ohio and his family legacy were all the inspiration he needed for “Abramo’s Gift.”
