Trip to the Emergency Room

June 12, 2008

corey says…Liam’s mom, Pat, had a nasty fall this evening, and we ended up taking her to the emergency room…”just to be on the safe side.”

She’s doing just fine and is in bed peacefully sleeping as I type this. She’s a little bruised, bloodied and embarrassed by the whole situation. The doc says she’ll be quite sore and purple tomorrow, but nothing time and rest won’t heal.

When we arrived at the hospital “casualty” ward (doesn’t that sound fatal?), the nurse inspected the wounds, took Pat’s hand and told her in the most calm and soothing voice, “Everything is going to be fine. Your beauty is still intact.”

Just a note…on our stop at the Emergency Room, Pat was attended to by nurses and a doctor, she was treated like a citizen and did not have to pay anything. Had the injury been more serious, I’m sure bills and insurance would have come into play, but the visit itself didn’t cost us anything…and the peace of mind was absolutely priceless.

Today, I’m saying a little prayer that Pat have a speedy recovery and that the threat of closing Nenagh Hospital passes. Had it been closed, we would have had to drive all the way to Limerick for any medical attention.

Sounds like there was some good TLC at the hospital. I hope everything is okay in the light of a new day.

Keep the blog going. It’s great!
